6: 31st JUNO AWARDS - on CTV (Canada)
Canada's equivalent of the Grammy Awards, the Juno Awards are
presented by the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences.
The 2003 Juno Awards telecast from the Corel Centre in Ottawa-Gatineau
was hosted by Shania Twain and featured
performances by Twain, Avril Lavigne, Blue
Rodeo, Our Lady Peace, Remy
Shand, Sam Roberts, Swollen
Members and Tom Cochrane. Presenters
included Chantal Kreviazuk, Doc Walker,
James Ehnes, Jane Bunnett, Kathleen
Edwards, K-OS, Nickelback,
Theory of a Deadman, Alanis Morissette,
Danko Jones, Glenn Lewis, Jully
Black, Molly Johnson, Sarah
Slean and Shawn Desman. "Non-musical"
presenters included The Honourable Sheila Copps,
Minister of Canadian Heritage; Daniel Alfredsson,
Captain of the Ottawa Senators; and Thea Andrews
and Ben Mulroney, hosts of CTVs Etalk

7: 2nd ANNUAL CMT FLAMEWORTHY 2003 VIDEO MUSIC AWARDS
Country Music Television's Flameworthy Video Awards, co-hosted by
actress Pamela Anderson and country star Toby
Keith, were telecast live from Nashville's Gaylord
Entertainment Center on Monday, April 7, 2003. More than 8.3
million viewers watched the live awards show and related
Flameworthy programs, and the show was CMT's highest-ever rated
telecast among viewers in the 18-49 age group, according to the
network. Repeats of the show will continue to air on CMT
periodically (check local listings). Nominations for this year's Flameworthy Video Awards
awards were announced on March 11th.
Country stars presenting awards included Martina McBride,
Keith Urban, Deana Carter, Hank
Williams Jr., Trace Adkins, Jessica
Andrews, Terri Clark, Chris
Cagle, and Steve Azar. Additional
presenters included Brett Butler (remember her
from "Grace Under Fire"?), Mo Rocca
("The Daily Show"), Wilmer Valderrama
("That '70s Show"), Tennessee Titan Kevin
Carter, and NASCAR racer Jimmie Johnson.
Vince Gill hosted a special
tribute to country music legend Johnny Cash. "The Man In Black" was honored
with a Special Achievement Award for five decades of influence
and enduring contributions to American music. Country Music Hall
of Fame member June Carter Cash accepted the
honor on her husband's behalf.
Musical performances were delivered by Shania Twain
(joined by surprise guests Alison Krauss & Union
Station featuring Jerry Douglas on
"Forever and For Always"), Faith Hill,
Tim McGraw, Kid Rock and Sheryl
Crow, Kenny Chesney, Alan
Jackson, Toby Keith, Rascal
Flatts, and Darryl Worley.

8: 45th ANNUAL ARIELS AWARDS
The 2003 Ariels Awards, Mexico's national film awards, were held
April 8 at the Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico City. Visit the

9: 48th DAVID DI DONATELLO AWARDS
Nominations for the David di Donatello Awards, Italy's
highest film honors, were announced on March 18th. Nominees for
Best Foreign Film included Chicago (Rob Marshall), Talk
to Her (Pedro Almodovar), The Pianist (Roman
Polanski), The Hours (Stephen Daldry) and The Man on

organisation that manages Italy's Donatello awards will be

10: 34th ANNUAL DOVE AWARDS ~ on PAX & TBN
The 34th Annual Dove Awards, recognizing achievement in all
genres of contemporary Christian and Gospel music, were held at
Nashville's Gaylord Entertainment Center on Thursday, April 10th.
The event was hosted by CeCe Winans and Steven
Curtis Chapman, with musical performances by Winans, Amy
Grant and Vince Gill, Yolanda
Adams, Donnie McClurkin, Sixpence
None the Richer, Blind Boys of Alabama,
Audio Adrenaline, The Crabb Family,
Mark Schultz, Bebo Norman, Nichole
Nordeman, Joy Williams and The
Katinas. All six New Artist nominees - Big Daddy
Weave, The Rock 'N' Roll Worship Circus,
Daily Planet, Souljahz, Paul
Colman Trio and Jeff Deyo - also
performed during the show. In addition, Michael W. Smith
was joined by Point of Grace, Michael
Tait, Anointed, Avalon,
and others to sing Smith's signature song Friends.
Pre-show ceremonies featured the Gospel Music Hall of Fame
induction of Amy Grant, Blind Boys of Alabama and
Pat Boone.
Nominations were announced January 14th. PAX TV will
air the Dove Awards on Saturday, April 19 from 9:00 p.m. to 11:00
p.m. ET/PT. The Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN) will televise
the show twice, on Friday, April 25 at 10:00 p.m. ET, 7:00 p.m.
PT and Saturday, April 26 at 5:00 p.m. ET, 2:00 p.m. PT.

12: 16th ANNUAL KID'S CHOICE AWARDS
The 16th Annual Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards, where kids honor
their favorites in TV, movies, music and sports, were celebrated
Saturday, April 12 in Santa Monica, California. Rosie
O'Donnell hosted the event for the seventh straight year.
Lending star power to the telecast were presenters Brad
Pitt, Michelle Pfeiffer, Will
Smith, Britney Spears, Sylvester
Stallone, Brittany Murphy, Rebecca
Romijn-Stamos, Frankie Muniz, Damon
Wayans, JC Chasez, Hilary Duff,
Amanda Bynes, Mandy Moore, Ashton
Kutcher, Jessica Alba, Dave
Mirra, The Rock, Melissa Joan
Hart, Bow Wow, Lil' Romeo,
Nick Cannon, Daryl Sabara, Alexis
Bledel and Kaley Cuoco. Justin
Timberlake and B2K performed. American
Idol stars Kelly Clarkson and Justin
Guarini also appeared.
This year's "World Record Skateboarding Slime Jump" was
performed by champion pro-skateboarder Tony Hawk,
who landed in a monstrous tank of Nickelodeon's signature green
slime. Celebrities even competed for the third annual Burp Award,
won by Jessica Alba and Steve Irwin
in last year's split decision and by Cameron Diaz
in the inaugural 2001 burp-off. Kelly Osbourne
hosted a post-show special, featuring celebrity interviews on the
orange carpet, which was telecast Sunday, April 13 during TEENick.

14: E's GOLDEN HANGER AWARDS
The dust is still settling on this season's red carpet events,
but the dirt is just beginning to fly. That's right, Joan and
Melissa Rivers are back to honor Hollywood's stylish upstarts--and
dishonor the downright tacky--in their annual 2003
Golden Hanger Awards. The
show debuted on April 14 with unlimited repeats to
follow.
